I’m going out on an over-the-knee-laced-up-limb and hailing Noho the new Soho.
I swear last time I was in New York you needed a bodyguard to veer anywhere east of Broadway. But brave souls that we are, Mr. Luxe made like Frank Farmer and we hot footed it to Kenmore St. for a nut-roast and nice pics.
Noho’s a tiny place. But packed to the rafters with cafe’s, crazy naked people (sorry snapchat) and can’t-figure-em-out boutiques. Best bit for me though is the grungy vibe, a little grittier than the safe streets I’m used to in South Ken.
Plus it’s where Andy Warhol had his apartment, where CBGB’s hosted Blondie and where half the fashion shows are happening this week. I’m hooked.
When in NoHo:
The Butcher’s Daughter – Juice bar, cafe, literally cool as a cucumber cocktail… we inhaled our veggie tacos and washed down with pink wine and kale juice. (Kenmore St. corner of Elizabeth St.)
Il Buco – an instagram find. Kind of quirky like-grans-house interior with huge chandeliers and odd coloured chairs. Food’s insanely good and the house-made pasta with goats cheese will blow your mind. (47 Bond St.)
Bohemian Club – we couldn’t get in but… it’s exclusive enough to give it a go, 25 seats serving Japanese cuisine and fancy cocktails APPARENTLY. (57 Great Jones St. at Bowery)
Gasoline Alley (325 Lafayette St)
Happy Bones (394 Broome St)
Nolita Hotel – we met friends there for a drink in the bar. It’s the calm oasis amid the hustle and bustle just across the road from The Butcher’s Daughter. Think marble tables, concrete walls and lots of windows for the optimum selfie. (30 Kenmare St.)
Patricia Field – of SATC fame has her own boutique AND YOU NEED TO GO. Think chiffon frocks and cute halter negligee’s. A must see! (306 Bowery between Bleecker and Houston)
