{competition} black and goldsmiths

Taking my cue from the monochromatic streets of Milan – my opportunity to showcase the Goldsmiths pieces I styled through London Fashion Week – today I’m popping that most beloved of sartorial tracks on repeat and yup, singing in the rain about all things black and gold.

There’s a competition too… but hold that thought.

We shot this look in the courtyard of Pinacoteca di Brera – mid-panettone run – if you squint it could easily pass for the back streets of London.

In fact from the moment we arrived in Brera I’ve been busy comparing notes on home and Milan’s rain-sodden similarities. Add to that the business of embracing carbs and this silhouette becomes a winner on so many levels. When in …er Rome.

What I love about wearing head-to-toe black is how instantly confident and put together I feel. It’s also a licence to experiment with textures; I amped up a sheer lace body with an even lacier skirt, buttery leather kimono and those classic cutout Bal’s. The boxy sleeves on the kimono are killer.

For me the gold accents, carefully peppered through the outfit are what really anchor the look.

Wearable dare-I-say versatile jewellery like today’s squad are what every girl needs in her life.

Something I was quite vocal about in the interview I did with Goldsmiths before fashion week.

It was major for me to collaborate with them, I’ve grown up Goldsmiths and checked in regularly through so many important celebrations in my life. My first designer watch, my 21st birthday diamonds and my beloved chain bracelet laden with charms are all scores from Goldsmiths visits gone by. Somehow though, over the last 2 or 3 years I’ve replaced the entire silver content of my jewellery box in favour of gold.

It’s not that I don’t love the cold-stuff – I’m often held hostage to it’s matchy matchy properties when I style up my fave biker.

But for me, when it comes to wearing black, gold gives it that added finesse and an extra polish.

On the last day of LFW, I stayed true to this mantra and styled two very different looks both with signature gold accents from the Goldsmiths collection. I need to share more about those – J’ll be fuming with me if I don’t –  but you can peek at the detail shots on my insta.

Along with the interview, Goldsmiths invited me to select my edit of must-have pieces for the season. AND THERE’S MORE

There’s a chance to win an identical gold locket to the one i’m holding close to my chest on instagram right now… click here you got to enter this.

Happy Friday
