this is my signature

Meet my new spring denim from Crew Clothing Company. A result of heavy petting on Pinterest and vigorous tumblr’ing. Cemented when I climbed into THE perfect fit white jean and realised they were the missing piece of my denim jigsaw.

Crew make the best classics so I’d wager this pair as a serious contender for my next signature top spot. They’re a kind of basic I’d basically overlooked. Til now.

The spring fling…

When my e-delivery arrived and I whipped an arsenal of all white Crew goodies from the box, J quickly summated that I’d as good as written myself out of rosé season. Granted I’m a renowned rosé wine splasher, and yep those blush grapes take no prisoners but I’m a self confessed pro when it comes to airing  threads over a Dyson drier at our local pub. It was in hand.

But jokes/grape splashing aside, I plan on embracing them into my spring/summer wardrobe in a big way.

They’re about to become my next spring signature.

The Signature

A signature is something I’ve secured and been seasonally nurturing since before I began my blog. Having a signature look is SUPER important for me.

In fact I’d go so far as to say it’s the fundamental principle to what I do. My uniform. It places me in context for my audience, makes me identifiable for everyone, it saves me a lot of time when I’m sifting through press day rails and look books and crucially it helps to make me memorable.

If everyone had a signature the world would be a happier place.

The pieces I ordered from Crew all fall under the ‘signature’ umbrella. A white sweater I’ll partner up with just about everything I own. A silk navy loungewear blouse – a trend pleaser with classic finesse – and these slightly stretchy perfect fit white jeans.

I really believe having a signature breeds a kind of confidence. The confidence to say no the umpteen off-the-shoulder ruffles in my Pinterest feed, and equally to say yes to the velvetine floral pants I’m rocking on instagram and these white jeans I just wanna live in.

Today’s look was inspired by muse and signature pioneer Jane Birkin. In the pic she was sat on a bench, routing through her obligatory wicker basket, barely a scrap of make-up, a simple sandal and hair swishing in the wind. Quintessentially her non?

Stealing her look but staying true to my vibe.

What’s your signature for spring? Am I on my own with needing a signature?

You look stunning and I totally agree that a signature look is very important. My uniform contains skinny jeans, heels, a silk blouse or a top and a leather jacket. I try so many different styles, but my uniform is the first on my mind in the morning and a big confidence booster.
    Love your pictures!
