NEW YORK: grid-prints, check-mates and the picture that ended up in the Daily Mail

Do you remember this picture?

I planted it on the gram last month. It was taken minutes before I checked in for my flight to New York for fashion week.

And this weekend: after scoring a cheeky double page spread in YOU Magazine for Mail on Sunday… they planted this pic online alongside an interview I did for FeMail.

Two tasty shoutouts in ONE day. I mean my Mum hasn’t been this proud since I left home.

But back to New York:

We shopped and ate our way around the big apple. My insta-stories was more a food diary than a fashion feed. And looking though pics since I’ve been back, it’s occurred to me that everything I packed for New York was fifty shades of grey and 90% check or grid or picnic or houndstooth print.

No shame in that!

With Maja Malnar before a fitting for the the MILLY presentation.

Yep, the Milly SS18 presentation in Soho was a highlight for me at NYFW.

So wearable, playful – in comparison to other mandrogynous New York designers, affordable AND with plenty of floaty and forgiving whites to get excited about!!!

For the presentation I wore a classic silk blouse, a fluffy alpaca mini-skirt – both from their current season collection – and then chucked on my favourite check blazer for the trot down Mercer Street in the breeze. Shoes were a gift from the incredibly talented designer Nicole Brundage and her label Marskin Ryyppy.

I’m linking this blazer here because no-one will believe me when I tell them where it’s from.

I was in New York a week!

Imagine the outfit changes… nah don’t. I was sharing a one-bed, one-bulb, one-to-avoid air bnb with my best friend fashion editor Kiera Liberati and two of her closest mates; editorial photographer Arron Dunworth {his work is well worth a nosey} and Jarel Unique {who’s personality shines as bright as my Mum’s sun-bed}.

I paid excess luggage for two bullet-proof Tumi suitcases the boys practically slept on.

But back to business:

*Iphone pics I snapped at the Colovos sS18 show.

Truth is: the date on the Colovos invite said 9/11/17 which – and i do not know why – Kiera and I interpreted as September 9th and not 11th… so we rocked up two days early. A comedy of errors so to speak.

But I adored this collection and it was my favourite runway of the week.

Again, something actually wearable; I loved the midi-length skirts, the simple layers and I can easily imagine myself synching one of those oversized blouses with a statement belt or bustier top.

Colovos is well and truly on my wish list for next summer.

After Colovos, Kiera and I hot-footed it to The Standard Grill, Meat Packing District

Can’t think of a better way to do fashion week than with my best-mate and copious amounts of Gin, slim and a juicy cheese and bacon burger.

New York New York…

So good they named it twice.
