{trend} l u x e rib sleeved

marc jacob

I’ve got the fear.

And it’s ribbing me. Literally.

Rib-knitting me to be exact – with clingy-as-a-condom properties.

Of the cashmere variety.

In sand storm hues.

This is very important (if not a season late) fashion news.

.

Yep, step aside LFW and your SS15 catwalk – the centre stage for me was on the FROW (front row to you mum) where super sleeve played star. The amount of beige/greige cashmere caressing the cobbles and marching to shows was major. Like fallen off a Marc Jacobs runway and smacked your face into a Celine store major. Armies of rib-wearing, neutral-hued fashionistas arrived in their droves, moving/shaking – LFW day 1 was hot – baking.

.

And first rule of FROW.

If you weren’t in your super sleeved rib tickle gear, you took one for the team and found a bench at the rear.

It’s no exaggeration that for most of today, I’ve been knee deep in the wool section, searching for my ribs.

.

And I’ve a plan up my extra long sleeves. One of maximum rib referencing but with minimum rib showing.

Firstly, I’ll be teaming two trends and buying into team Camel n Oats (camel colour not crib). Secondly, taking note of next season – I’m tying the look together in knots… and pleats….  and twists….  and folds. Trust me on this. You’ve been told.

.

And cos we all – including you mum – need to prepare for a winter of panetone sandstorm.

I’ve prepared some camel-coping strategies. Namely

Layer-caking

As in ‘layer’ your dress/skirt/sweater/shirt like a no fuss sandwich. Then play like a ‘cake’ with genoese/vanilla sponge hues.

Make sure to add plenty of attitude.

.

And I reckon, buy into as much woolly/crochet/rib-knitted luxe gear as is Amexable. Get knee deep in matchy matchy neutrals, get stuck in head to toe woollens, then spend the day cuddled up in a ribbed condom knit, basking in sartorial smugness, safe in the knowledge that you nailed this season…. and the next.

The rib knit is IT.

.

I’ll be involved in more layering than you can shake a stick at once winter rocks up.  Just praying I can find a be-ribbed wool pant that pairs nicely with THAT badass, yet-to-buy blanket coat.

Yep. Layer-caking is my new word on the street…

Can’t wait for winter. Now bugger off heat.

.

Tomorrow I get giddy over the goodness of SS15 and throw some gossip your way on Team Wintour #mean

Til then

  • 100% with you on this one. Ribbed for her/his pleasure is everything. It’s totally everywhere for men too. You are bang on with it being for next spring and summer too. Did you see the Fendi show earlier today? Ribbed and pleats a plenty. You are the trend forecaster! xxx
