Le Marais stole my heart.

How pretentious do I sound? Parisian prerogative.

But it’s true.

And I reckon a monsieur stole my suede Marant booties but where there’s blame there’s a claim…new-seasoning.

Still, 3 days 42 Parisian coffees later, Le Marais earned it’s breton stripes as my latest hood crush. A handsomely unassuming one… a little less touristy. Le accommodation… Le cafe sipping… Le wifi… all came in at a luxe-steal compared to the sœur trap around the Champs-Élysées.

10 euro cortado’s and weighty pic-n-mix arouses amex suspicion.

Le Marais basecamp was Hotel du Petite Moulin, pitched to us as boutique (f**king small in French speak). So no room to swing my kitten heels but Choo steps from le metro, le tabac and le life line patisserie.

We stayed local and avoided the tormentors traffic lights and their tourist sensors… Sitting in Paris cabs is a struggle. It looks better in ambre/rouge said no one EVER. We toyed with nose plugs and played with the metro… #letitgo.

.

Mr. Luxe compared Le Marais to Soho  – bazaars, boutiques and baguette brothels boulangeries …all flanked by off-duty models and carb dodgers.

I compared le exchange rates in Mon Amour, Merci and Maje. Pourquoi pas.

All the while we fuelled on flatlay friendly cafe stops and fancy French doors. I’m back home now craving brie and croque monsieurs…

Boot camp, I’m all yours.

EAT: Beaucoup – French cuisine with a nordic twist, staged in a New Yorkesque warehouse. Winning!!

SLEEP: Hotel du Petit Moulin …B&B with benefits. Breakfast we dined in the foyer – once a Boulangerie. Christian Lacroix designed the hotel flamboyantly.. it really is a feast for the eyes… But pack light, there’s no room to stash much more than a carry-on. Can shop will shop!!

SHOP: Helmut Lang, Acne Studios and all the global suspects hangout here. I poured my heart out in Aux Comptoirs du chineur on the Rue Saint Paul… a vintage find well worth a rustle. Rite-of-passage style we stomped to the promised land Merci and stocked up on all manner of luxe stuff.. plus used books, hot coffee. Yup, spent up!!

Merci

REPEAT: Walk, walk, walk… on every corner a boutique or a cafe greeted us. Yeh they swiped our euros, but we needed ’em… cold toes.

  • Well then, my itinerary is set!

  • Perfect pictures as always, you look utterly adorable! Also a very hand guide to Paris as it should be seen. Bravo xxx
