This is not just any travel post…
This is….
No. No sorry I’m not sponsored by M&S. I don’t look like Gaelic goddess Dirvla Kirwan and this is just a travel post.
But I do promise I’m a trusty source of tried and tested tips for tackling Santorini from where I lay (or did lay, since this was last month and I’m back home now dealing with a faded tan and a tummy two tones shy of ‘Cornforth white’.
Official disclaimer: On holiday Mr. Luxe and I excel at lazy afternoons sipping mojito’s by the pool. Expect mezze sized chunks…
Stay:
White Santorini nestled in the heart of Imerovigli, a peaceful retreat perched on the cobbled cliff-path to the main town of Thira. Bleached from wall-to-white-wall, it’s a prime spot for all-day sun basking and belting good Mojitos. We were greeted with smiley faces and white suited man-servants who ushered us to stunningly beautiful room 101. Day 2 and three zillion instagrams of the View, the manager relocated us to stunningly beautiful Honeymoon suite – no joke. {prices summer’15 – £450 – £900 per room per night)
Eat:
Day/night, unassuming Mezzo is well worth seeking out. Pitched on the cliff edge of Imerovigli, with tables spread across 4 small floors, we were as in awe of the stuffed squid as we were the mountaineering waiters. And of course the view… unobscured caldera blues. {prices summer ’15 – 3 course supper + wine £50 per person}
Do:
Head to Oia to catch a sunset and compare white-hotel notes. We walked it only once, a 2 and a half hour cardio session including a Mythos break and a stalk of the San Antonio suites. Course it was worth every blister for we found our way down to the island’s tip Amoudi Bay. Just in time to take in a breathtaking sunset, sample local delicacies, all the while inebriated. {we dined at the infamous Sunset Tavern – menu changes daily, they accept walk-ins but book ahead for a spot by the waters edge}
Come find me over at Very Exclusive – I’m sharing my Santorini style and even more vacay pics…
