What with the social media zeitgeist – permanently primed to check-in, chirp-up and generally document the leaf on every London tree – it’s rare that I don’t recognise the name of a restaurant in my beloved home town. So when the chance to go try Pont St. and break out my new-in’s around Belgravia was presented, I pitched up.
Course google maps got J and I there a bit early, so we floundered in Chesham Place with google feeling lucky. I found some juicy titbits pertaining to Sophie Michell – Exec Chef – a colourful career as a former cuisinier for international super model Claudia carb-dodging Schiffer. We prepared for the worst. I prayed for caesar dressing.
En-route to the table I spied a sexy looking trio of sliders. All bets were off.
.
Afternoon highlights included:
-The plentiful parmesan chunks, a drowned-to-perfection-in-truffle-infused-honey kinda thing – who new? – washed down with Marlborough sav blanc… like you do.
– J’s first glimpse of his superfood salad, a man well out of his comfort-food zone.
– My fresh-catch-that-day king prawns. Chargrilled, juicy and finger-lickingly obscene. Sensational.
– The loo’s, so selfie friendly.
– And the digestif I insisted we take in the bar upstairs – perfect for like-minded, book-worm-with-mid-century-taste types to unwind and escape life.
Will be back.
