We need a new word for casual.
So dish-wateringly murkily subjective that word. Casual – according to definition – is something without definite or serious intention …do you see the problem? I can a think of similar nothing words I’m equally as irritated by; ‘natural’, ‘everyday’ or worse still ‘nice’ … the latter really gets under my skin. So can we take said f***ing redundant adjectives out all together, bung ’em in room 101 and get down to business, shopping
for new words.
Found one.
Off-duty. Yep, ok point taken this is technically two words, though it’s a well rounded summary and a serious upgrade from former flame ‘casual’. T’were it a person, off-duty would most likely be friendly, popular, relaxed in any given situation and self deprecatingly sure of one self. So this outfit basically.
I fully admit to taking my cue from it’s silent loaded shorthand references to ‘model’s off-duty’ …cos who the hell doesn’t want to be inferred to as a model. Maybe it’s the body-con element to wearing lycra head to toe – life-goal since I left the womb. Maybe it’s the think-less do-more element to wearing nearly all-black-everything – looks better in black. Maybe moto jackets are my jam – model uniform after all. Whatever, let’s run with it.
Also, off-duty reserves the right to ditch the heels, stash the carbs (oversized sweater permitting), respect my gym membership (squats people squats) and dare i say it embargo the hair-brush if that pic below’s anything to go by.
In fact so comfortable is this the combo that I can’t think of a weekend in well weeks that I’ve not climbed into my body-supporting threads and rugged up with the squad (turtleneck/biker/gilet).
Next time you need to look cool AF but feel comfier than a fat kid in Five Guys. Go off-duty. Literally off the hook.
