Denim is undergoing a transformation this season.
And so am I.
But first denim. And the clear winner of London Fashion Week if the Vogue street style pages are anything to go by. That and the reason I’ve worn some element of denim in all but one look this week.
That ‘overwhelming’ Forever 21 snapchat takeover I poured my heart and soul into on Saturday is where you may recognise this outfit from. If you missed the action – Marc Jacobs dissing his interviewer and defying gravity – or even if you missed this look – no worries, Mr. Luxe was on hand to capture me from all angles.
The outfit I chose is a reworking of my classic silhouette.
Micro-mini skirt, major-feels jacket and sky-high heels.
I was out for a party that night and the snapchat was an all-day-marathon. This did what it says on the tin.
New season denim is awash with delicious patchwork/the odd bit of DIY/and tonal in colour. Little patchwork skirt is my first trend-driven purchase for 2016. A find in Forever 21’s Fashion Week inspired collection – a box ticked. I picked up the fringed suede jacket and matching booties in the same sweep – because I’ve never met anyone walk out of Forever 21 with just one thing… never.
Denim paired with fringe though…. OBSESSED!
Denim paired with anything at the minute. The trend cogs have turned so fast I feel compelled to be denim informed at all times. Knowing to hack at my hems just isn’t enough, styling nuances of the street-style scene change daily. This week, was all about the detail; the ring-belt, the oversized sleeve, the fish-net sock.
All that said, denim styles are starting to look more minimal and refined… I could hear a penny drop in the skinny jean section – a pity since this is my safe place – but don’t worry I’m not that fickle. Just might have to keep a cropped culotte mistress on the sly.
What’s you’re favourite denim at the minute..? Or are you torn… geddit!
