I’m back from my smug-married’s-who-holiday-with-other-smug-b******s mini break.
Venice: you were all we I ever dreamt of
and more.
But in order to dress for a city so eye-wateringly fabulous – legit only super models, Kardashians, Brangelina ‘n brood will likely stand out from the canals – one must adopt a coping styling strategy.
I decided on ‘the pop of colour’. Easy on the eye/’gram/vacay-wardrobe/luggage hold.
Meet my sirens:
Yep, nothing amps up the volume like a pop of colour.
Choosing which colour to pop took all of 10 seconds… destination amore had it’s red card marked from the get go… As a rule I stick to no more than two statements to any look. White Fendi baguette wing-manned me through each evening a treat.
Now for this styling rule to really work seamlessly, the pieces need to ‘fit’ well. You need your ‘pop’ to have maximum impact.
The lipstick red ‘Hibiscus’ sandals with their killer albeit low, gold heel withstood the ultimate test of navigating umpteen bridges
while I was maintaining eye-contact with my Del-boy gelato.
My fool-proof way to add a pop is to do it with neutrals. Also denim (adopted neutral in my world).
The nude/camel/skin-toned dress is this seasons necessary piece of kit. I cleared a day in the diary to go shopping for the ONE. Turns out there’s more than one…
A silk slip, a ribbed body-con, a floral-print fil coupé silk-blend georgette maxi, whatever nude frock floats your gondola. I’ve listed a few finds on my radar down below.
Happy weekending…
